Why buy a Turkey direct from our farm?

OUR TRADITIONAL METHODS

We have been rearing turkeys for Christmas since 1987.

We maintain the highest welfare standards for our turkeys. Our premises and our methods are all inspected by the environmental health officer, who  ensure that we are rearing turkeys the way people want and within all the current regulations and legislation.

Our  bronze turkeys are let out into the sunshine from mid-August,  when they are young poults.

BREED

All our turkeys are slow growing traditional bronze breeds, which are reared to full maturity – a minimum of 24 weeks old*, ensuring a succulent texture when cooked.

For the last couple of years we have only reared hens.

*(Turkeys are considered to be mature at 12 weeks old)

PRODUCTION

We use traditional production methods, on our own stress free premises. Our turkeys are plucked and hung in a controlled environment to mature for a minimum of ten days before being eviscerated (gutted) and prepared and are treated as a game bird, which in nature, they are.  This method tenderises the meat and intensifies the flavour, making them genuinely unique.

Our birds contain:

NO ADDED WATER, CHEMICALS OR FATS

Our turkeys take almost twice as long to rear and cost almost four times as much to produce as standard intensive turkeys. Consequently, in this niche market, the result is the finest turkey, of superior eating quality, you can buy.
